Building a global platform for one of the world’s most trusted financial institutions
The Challenge
Design a modern, enterprise-grade transaction banking platform—entirely from scratch—for Goldman Sachs. The product had to meet the highest bar for usability, security, and regulatory compliance, while serving both external clients and internal service teams across the globe.
My Role
As Associate Creative Director, I led the day-to-day design effort from March 2020 through September 2021. I managed a multidisciplinary team of 9 creatives across New York, Austin, and São Paulo—spanning experience design, visual design, copy, and strategy.
This was a complex, multi-year engagement with thousands of screens delivered, dozens of stakeholder groups aligned, and a product now live in multiple markets.

Designing for Dual Audiences
The platform had two core interfaces:
Client User Interface (CUI)
A front-facing tool for clients managing complex, high-volume financial operations across markets and currencies.
Client Service Portal (CSP)
An internal tool for Goldman’s service representatives to quickly resolve issues and support clients across various organizations.
We ran strategy workshops, card sorting exercises, and multiple rounds of information architecture revisions to ensure clarity, scalability, and usability across both tools.
Systematizing Complexity
We developed an extensive Design System and Pattern Library to ensure consistency across thousands of screens and contributors. Beyond basic components, we created modular patterns for:
Onboarding flows
Payment creation and approvals
Notifications and tasks
Reporting and reconciliation
These patterns enabled scalable design across distributed teams, improved velocity, and reduced cognitive load for users.
High-Fidelity Prototyping
To validate user needs and communicate vision to stakeholders and potential clients, we built high-fidelity interactive prototypes in Figma, leveraging advanced component libraries and conditional logic.
These prototypes played a critical role in usability testing, stakeholder buy-in, and early client demonstrations.
Outcome
We delivered a modern transaction banking platform that’s now live, growing, and winning awards. Beyond the external product, we also helped establish a design-first culture within one of the most conservative segments of finance.
